We scan our equity-option database and report all the straddle combinations
that cost $2 or less and are within 25 cents of the strike price. This
screens the cheapies and we look for some volatility.
These options are cheap because many do not move. Note well the option volume
and open interest, which are often zero. Watch for big increases in volume
in the weeks before expiration! The straddle screen is great the week of
expiration. Sometimes we do not do the straddle, but buy one side or the other.
This is where you find the HOME RUNS, but also lots of STRIKE OUTS. This is a
low cost, high risk screen. Love it when they go from a teeny or an eighth to a
buck. Good tip...stock price should be at least twice the 52 week low.
THIS IS A VALUE SCREEN - NOT A DIRECTION SCREEN. BUY WISELY!
